MICHAEL ANTHONY

Michael Anthony, born and raised in Chicago Illinois , calls upon past experiences in order to bring his unique style of techno/trance to the dancefloor. Growing up listening to psychedelic rock and roll like Led Zepplin, The Beatles, and Jimmy Hendrix taught Michael to experiment with music and to have an open mind. After a move to the East coast in 1993, Michael became interested in electronic music such as The Cure, Skinny Puppy and Depeche Mode.

1994 brought Michael back to Chicago to revel in the Chicago house scene where he attended events regularly. In 1995, Michael undertook a tour with The Grateful Dead that showed him exactly how a crowd reacted to certain elements during a live performance. Percussion became the number one interest while touring with the Dead; After the death of Jerry Garcia, Michael looked once again to electronic music for that live, improvisational, and uplifting feeling. Artists such as Misjah, Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, and Richie Hawtin proved that the music could be percussive and mind releasing.

Mars and Venus, Inc. was formed in 1998 in Fort Wayne, Indiana in order to further the advancement of electronic music. At this time Michael learned to play the turntables and began creating style. Now Michael plays a high-energy dance mix. His music is improvisational, psychedelic and primal percussion described as hard tribal techno building to acid trance mixed on three turntables. Always keeping the dancefloor in mind, Michael bangs out the tunes with a seamless and pounding groove.

Michael has two studio cut promo mix CDs in circulation: 'Valhalla' and 'Menneske'. Michaels’ ‘Live at Abydos’ CD shows his on stage mixing skills and track selection. Currently, Michael is working on track production with a release date yet to be announced.
